Job summary

St Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Fort Collins, CO seeks a Director of Liturgy to assist the Pastor in planning, coordinating, and overseeing all liturgical celebrations in accordance with Catholic norms and Archdiocese policies.

The successful candidate will lead liturgical planning, recruit and train ministers, manage schedules and supplies, and collaborate with staff and volunteers to foster full, conscious participation of the faithful.

Qualifications

  • Practicing Catholic in good standing.
  • Degree in Liturgy or Theology preferred.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Experience coordinating volunteers.
  • Knowledge of the Roman Missal, liturgical documents, and Archdiocesan policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Attend staff meetings, calendar meetings, and liturgy planning meetings.
  • Prepare the annual liturgy budget.
  • Monitor expenditures.
  • Work collaboratively with parish staff.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Pastor.

Purpose

The Director of Liturgy assists the Pastor in planning, coordinating, and overseeing the liturgical life of the parish. This position ensures that all liturgical celebrations are carried out according to the norms of the Catholic Church and the Archdiocese of Denver while fostering full, conscious, and active participation of the faithful.

Primary Responsibilities
Liturgical Planning
  • Coordinate all parish liturgies with the Pastor and clergy.
  • Prepare annual liturgical calendars.
  • Coordinate liturgies for Holy Days, sacramental celebrations,and parish events.
  • Prepare worship aids for all liturgical celebrations.
  • Coordinate seasonal liturgical environments and décor.
  • Ensure all liturgical celebrations follow Archdiocesan norms.
Liturgical Ministries
  • Recruit, train, schedule, and support:
    • Lectors
    • Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion
    • Altar Servers
    • Sacristans
    • Ushers
    • Greeters
    • Clergy schedules
    • Maintain ministry schedules through the parish scheduling system.
Weddings & Funerals
  • Meet with couples and families to plan liturgies.
  • Coordinate with clergy, funeral homes, musicians, and volunteers.
  • Coordinate funeral luncheon scheduling with the Funeral Reception Coordinator.
Liturgical Supplies & Environment
  • Oversee procurement and inventory of:
    • Hosts
    • Wine
    • Candles
    • Sacred vessels
    • Vestments
    • Linens
    • Seasonal décor
  • Work with the decorating committee.
  • Ensure the sanctuary, sacristy, and liturgical storage areas remain organized.
Volunteer Leadership
  • Recruit and train liturgical volunteers.
  • Ensure Safe Environment and volunteer paperwork requirements are met.
  • Coordinate formation opportunities and appreciation events for liturgical ministers.
Administrative Responsibilities
