Job Description

A laborer performs tasks involving physical labor at heavy construction projects. Responsibilities include operating hand and power tools, site cleaning and preparation, trench digging, setting supports, erecting scaffolding, debris removal, and waste management.

Essential Functions

• Execute job deliverables per customer specifications and contracts.
• Ensure work complies with standards and safety protocols.
• Promote and monitor team safety.
• Prepare sites for construction activities.
• Clean debris and hazardous materials from sites.
• Load/unload equipment and materials, restock supplies, and distribute materials safely.
• Prepare trenches, assist in pipe and drain installation, and measure/mark pipes.
• Erect temporary structures and fill potholes.
• Use hand tools to cut and shape materials.
• Identify utilities and hazards, protect crews, and assist in manual digging.
• Place traffic signs and signal equipment operators.
• Maintain equipment and vehicles.
• Follow safety and incident reporting procedures.
• Assist tradesmen and wear PPE as required.

Qualifications and Skills

• Ability to read plans, specifications, and safety standards; operate relevant tools and equipment.
• Detect unsafe conditions.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and problem-solving skills.
• Responsibility and team effectiveness.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED; vocational training preferred.
• Knowledge of gas installation standards is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work long hours, including nights and weekends.
• Lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Travel within a 4-hour radius of the home office.
