Spotsylvania County seeks a Public Works Assistant to support litter cleanup and solid waste maintenance under limited supervision. You will coordinate with outside groups, supervise volunteers, and cover Convenience Centers as needed.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Virginia driver’s license, and proficiency with Word and Excel. Normal hours are 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday, with possible weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; experience in environmental education or waste programs preferred.
• Valid driver’s license issued by Virginia.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to operate standard office software.

Responsabilités

• Assist Public Works Operations Manager with litter pickup and solid waste maintenance.
• Coordinate with and supervise volunteers and outside groups for litter removal.
• Occasionally cover at Convenience Centers and assist with related maintenance tasks.
• Perform grounds maintenance and operate related equipment as needed.
• Prepare basic reports and maintain records; communicate effectively with the public.
