Vice President-Managing Counsel at Fidelity National Financial

Fidelity National Financial – Litigation Counsel

Fidelity National Financial, a Fortune 300 Company and the largest provider of title insurance in the world, is seeking an experienced litigation attorney to join its in-house litigation team.

In this position you will handle litigation across the state of Texas arising from title insurance claims. You will provide high quality, cost‑effective legal representation, exhibit superior knowledge and expertise in the litigation process, and deliver excellent client service as part of a legal team. You will independently manage aggressive case handling with a resolution management focus, litigate cases to verdict, and demonstrate superior trial skills and techniques.

You will independently handle a full-to-moderate caseload of moderate severity and complexity from inception through trial or resolution, working under guidance of Senior Counsel on complex and high‑exposure files. You will conduct legal research as required, supervise research projects delegated to Associate Counsel and paralegals, independently draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery and other file documents, attend court events and other appointments, learn and understand claim customers’ expectations and key department business goals, and assist them in meeting those goals. You will pursue opportunities for special projects and committees, provide recommendations and case analysis to business partners on file‑handing strategy, integrate legal support staff into case‑handling processes, build and maintain superior internal and external client relationships, and complete all required administrative tasks including time reporting, closed‑case reports, and other materials needed for performance of job duties. You will make effective use of technology and automation in the practice of law and adhere to all standards of excellence in file management. Travelling as required to meet business needs is expected. You will mentor and train less experienced counsel and legal support staff and provide advice and training to claim partners and clients.

• Graduation from an accredited law school with a strong academic record and 3-5 years of equivalent legal experience.
• Experience in insurance and real estate litigation (desirable).
• Demonstrated track record of trial skills and techniques.
• Articulate presentation skills using technology.
• Strong and persuasive legal writing and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to clearly and succinctly articulate position.
• Proficiency with technology and automation resources including Microsoft Office, Voice Recognition Technology, Legal Files, Trial Director, and other law office management programs.

Licensed to practice law in New Mexico.
