Michael Best & Friedrich LLP is seeking a senior litigations professional to join our North Carolina offices as a Litigation Partner or Senior Counsel. The ideal candidate will have at least ten years of civil or commercial litigation experience and possess a strong record in pleadings, discovery management, and trial preparation.

J.D. from an ABA accredited law school and current North Carolina bar membership are required, with preferred construction litigation exposure.

Qualifications

  • Senior level attorney with minimum ten (10) years of significant civil and/or commercial litigation experience.
  • Experience drafting and preparing pleadings, briefs, motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Managing discovery, including taking/presenting witnesses for deposition, oral argument, and trial preparation.
  • Strong legal research, analysis and writing skills.
  • Must have a reasonable book of portable litigation business.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an active litigation caseload.
  • Draft and prepare pleadings, briefs, motions, and other litigation documents.
  • Manage discovery, including depositions, oral argument, and trial preparation.
  • Conduct legal research, analysis and writing; maintain excellent advocacy.
  • Develop relationships and mentor associates; grow NC litigation presence.

Michael Best & Friedrich LLPis seeking a highly motivated and experiencedLitigation Partner or Senior Counselto help grow our expandingNorth Carolinaoffices. The candidate must be a senior level attorney with a minimum of ten (10) years of significant civil and/or commercial litigation experience.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter capable of managing an active litigation case load and experienced in drafting and preparing pleadings, briefs, motions, and other litigation documents; managing discovery, including taking/presenting witnesses for deposition, oral argument, and trial preparation; conducting legal research, analysis and writing; and will possess excellent oral advocacy, communication, and writing skills. Candidate must have a reasonable book of portable litigation business.Candidate is also expected to help grow our litigation presence in North Carolina and be an active networker in the community and various organizations.

  • This position is available in any of our North Carolina offices
  • J.D. from an ABA accredited law school
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • At least 10 years’ of significant commercial litigation experience, with construction litigation experience preferred.
  • Excellent legal research and analysis skills
  • Current member of the North Carolina bar with litigation experience in North Carolina federal and state courts
  • Ability to learn and embrace new skills and best practices as the position evolves and Firm needs change
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work well independently as well as effectively within a team
  • Ability to develop relationships and foster teamwork at all levels of the Firm
  • Ability to manage a team of associates and paralegals
