Job summary

Smith, Sovik, Kendrick & Sugnet, P.C. in Uniondale, NY seeks an experienced Litigation Partner to join our satellite office. The role focuses on insurance defense with leadership responsibilities and mentoring junior attorneys, offering growth within a collaborative, robust team.

The successful candidate will manage a full caseload, appear in courts across the NYC metropolitan area, and contribute to a busy, high-performing practice with bonuses and relocation support where applicable.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and NY bar in good standing.
• 6-10+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Ability to manage cases independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload of insurance defense matters across various litigations.
• Supervise and mentor junior litigation associates with limited admin duties.
• Conduct all phases of litigation: pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, mediations, trials.
• Appear in state and local courts across the NYC metro area and surroundings.

This is a unique opportunity for a highly qualified and motivated attorney to grow professionally and be part of a competitive, robust group of talented trial lawyers, with an opportunity to work independently and mentor junior attorneys.

Responsibilities

• Manage a full caseload of insurance defense matters, including labor law/construction litigation, premises liability, motor vehicle, property damage, and general liability claims
• Supervision and mentoring of junior litigation associates with limited administrative duties
• Conduct all phases of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations and trials
• Appear in state and local courts throughout the NYC metropolitan area and surrounding regions

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active New York State Bar admission in good standing.
• 6-10+ years of insurance defense litigation experience.
• Demonstrated ability to manage cases independently and meet deadlines.
• Strong written and oral advocacy skills.
• A competitive mindset with a passion for advocacy.
