City of Boston Law Department seeks a Paralegal to research points of law, draft memoranda, and organize case files in support of City attorneys. The role involves preparing documents, maintaining filing systems, and coordinating with departments to advance litigation in official capacities.

Under supervision of senior counsel, you will handle discovery, assist in motions and trial preparation, attend hearings, depositions, and client meetings, and ensure accurate, timely communication with

• Bachelor's degree preferred for the role.
• Studying toward a Juris Doctor degree is a plus.
• Highly motivated self-starter with strong work ethic.
• Proficiency in MS Office and Westlaw is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills.
• Attention to detail and accurate work product.
• Good judgment and focus on detail as required.

Responsabilidades

• Prepare documents and cases for specific court hearings.
• Research legal issues and apply findings to cases.
• Sort and analyze information gathered.
• Update and support attorneys with reports and correspondence.
• Assist in drafting legal motions.
• Attend meetings with attorneys; respond to inquiries, depositions, witness prep.
• Handle discovery: drafting, responding, reviewing and redacting documents.
• Assist attorneys in trial preparation; attend trials and depositions.
• Maintain positive relations with City, courts, and others.
• Handle walk-ins and phone inquiries.
• Open new cases when served; close cases on request.
• Prepare physical and electronic case files.
• Perform related duties as required.
