Responsibilities

  • Manage discovery and eDiscovery lifecycle from collection to production.
  • Draft and issue discovery requests; review for relevance and privilege.
  • Prepare privilege logs and maintain case materials.
  • Coordinate subpoenas and monitor responses and deadlines.
  • Assist in trial preparation: exhibits, binders, summaries, and demonstrations.
  • Index and track deposition and trial exhibits; summarize transcripts.
  • Support litigation teams with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Job description

An established national law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Paralegal to join its Washington, DC office. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned litigation professional with strong case management, discovery/eDiscovery, and trial preparation experience.

Location: Washington, DC

Salary: $65,000–$115,000, with flexibility up to approximately $120,000 for a highly qualified candidate

Billable Requirement: 1,400 hours annually

Schedule: Onsite 5 days per week for the first 90 days; a hybrid schedule of 4 days in office/1 day remote may be considered thereafter

Hours: Monday–Friday, 40 hours per week (9:00 AM–6:00 PM or 8:30 AM–5:30 PM, with a one-hour lunch)

What We’re Looking For

The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of substantive paralegal experience and a stable employment history. Prior trial experience is strongly preferred, along with hands-on experience managing complex litigation matters from discovery through trial.

Key experience should include:
  • Strong case management, court filing, and deadline-tracking experience across state, federal, and appellate courts
  • Managing the full discovery and eDiscovery lifecycle, including collection, review, and production
  • Drafting discovery responses and reviewing documents for relevance and privilege
  • Preparing and maintaining privilege logs
  • Advanced experience with eDiscovery platforms such as Relativity and similar tools
  • Drafting, issuing, tracking, and domesticating subpoenas; coordinating service and monitoring responses and deadlines
  • Preparing for trials and depositions, including exhibits, binders, summaries, demonstratives, and courtroom support
  • Experience indexing, tracking, and managing case materials, discovery, deposition exhibits, and trial exhibits
  • Summarizing depositions and other transcripts
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Experience with document management systems such as iManage or NetDocuments
  • Legal research, Bluebook, and cite-checking experience preferred, but not required
Education

A BA or BS degree is preferred. Candidates with an Associate's degree or paralegal certificate will also be considered with at least 8 years of comparable work experience.

Successful candidates will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail. The position requires someone who can work independently, take initiative, manage multiple competing priorities, and remain organized in a fast-paced litigation environment.
