Job summary

Job description

Kessenick Gamma is a boutique law firm representing healthcare and technology clients, including several industry leaders. The firm’s practices include mergers and acquisitions, corporate formation, regulatory compliance, and commercial litigation.

Our firm is seeking a litigation paralegal to join our team of attorneys and staff.

The paralegal will be responsible with attorney supervision for multiple aspects of assigned cases including litigation calendaring; tracking case status; drafting of pleadings, motions, and correspondence; production and organization of documents; preparation of chronologies of facts and production charts; organization of relevant documents for attorney review for witness interviews and depositions; management of documents in electronic case system; and assistance with trial and hearing preparation.

In office attendance is required at least 3 days per week.

Primary Job Functions
  • Maintaining an electronic calendar of upcoming case events and deadlines
  • Ability to plan and organize litigation matters and tasks, establish chronologies and timelines for key events in case, and interact with clients and others on document gathering and production
  • Assist with drafting of pleadings, motions, and discovery in court matters (state and federal) and arbitration proceedings
  • Analyze, review, and organize documents and data from materials produced during discovery, or in preparation for production in discovery
  • Prepare deposition and record subpoenas according to state and federal regulations
  • Assist with trial and arbitration preparation, including preparation and management of exhibits
  • Conducting limited legal research, including cite-checking
  • Interact professionally and clearly with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and litigation vendors, including process servers and couriers
  • Demonstrate basic strategic thinking and initiative with case assignments
  • Responsible for personal billable time entries
Skills and Educational Requirements
  • Experience working with litigation cases from onset to trial phase
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of the rules and procedures in various courts and venues by consistently ensuring compliance in all litigation matters (Federal Rules of Civil Procedure as well as California Rules of Civil Procedure)
  • Experience with document management software (NetDocs knowledge a plus)
  • Proficiency in Windows environment including Word and Outlook
  • Highly organized and detailed-oriented, with the ability to handle multiple projects
  • Must be a self-starter with a high level of initiative
  • Reliable, collaborative, and professional
  • Results oriented and excellent time management skills
  • Able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Maintains confidentiality and exercises discretion
Professional Experience
  • At least 3 years of experience as a litigation assistant, paralegal, or similar position required
  • College degree or ABA Paralegal Certificate required
Compensation and Benefits
  • $75,000 - $95,000 per year, depending on experience
