Job summary

Vernis & Bowling's Atlanta office is seeking a paralegal to join our fast-paced insurance defense team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of insurance defense experience, though training is available for the right candidates.

Responsibilities include summarizing records and court files, scheduling couriers and witnesses, researching statutes and case law, drafting and reviewing briefs and discovery, and assisting with trial preparation and subpoenas.

• Assists in trial preparation and discovery by gathering and organizing exhibits and documents in response to subpoenas and requests.
• Serves as a limited liaison between counsel, clients, experts, witnesses, third parties, and other outside contacts.
• Maintain attorney’s calendar by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, and depositions.

• Drafts, prepares and performs limited reviews of legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, discovery materials, appeals and contracts.
• Assists in trial preparation and discovery practices such as gathering and organizing exhibits, trial data, documents, and other materials in response to subpoenas, discovery requests, interrogatories, motions for summary judgments, etc.
• Serves as a limited liaison between counsel, clients, experts, witnesses, third parties, and other outside contacts.
• Maintain attorney’s calendar by planning and scheduling conferences, teleconferences, and depositions.
