Macdonald & Cody, LLP is seeking an energetic, dedicated litigation legal assistant to join our firm. The role requires 3+ years of civil litigation support in a fast-paced environment, with experience in case intake, managing deadlines, and filing or serving documents in CA superior, federal, and appellate courts.

The ideal candidate is self-starting, communicates effectively with clients and insurance carriers, and is comfortable with trial preparation, designation processes, and depositions.

Qualifications

• Must have 3+ years of civil litigation support experience.
• Self-starter with a hit-the-ground-running work ethic.
• Experience with case intake/opening and managing deadlines.
• Familiarity with filing and service in CA superior, federal and appellate courts.
• Knowledge of expert designation, deposition process, and trial‑triggered deadlines.
• Comfortable with client/insurance carrier contact via email/phone.

Responsibilities

• Support civil litigation team with case intake and opening.
• Track and manage attorney deadlines and court dates.
• File and serve pleadings in California and federal courts; comply with rules.
• Assist with trial prep, including motions in limine and exhibit binders.
• Coordinate with clients and insurance carriers as needed.

Macdonald & Cody, LLP is an insurance defense litigation firm specializing in personal injury and catastrophic injury claims. Macdonald & Cody, LLP seeks an energetic, hard-working, dedicated litigation legal assistant to join our firm.

Qualifications:

• Must have 3+ years of experience in a fast-paced law firm as a civil litigation legal assistant/legal secretary (personal injury experience preferred).
• The candidate must be self-starting with a “hit the ground running” work ethic.
• Experience with case intake/opening.
• Experience with managing deadlines and ensuring attorneys meet the same.
• Experience with filing and service in California superior, federal and appellate courts.
• Knowledge of rules relating to service and filing of pleadings and discovery.
• Familiarity with expert designation and deposition process.
• Familiarity with trial‑triggered deadlines.
• Candidate must be comfortable with client/insurance carrier contact via email and phone.
• Candidate must have trial preparation experience, including preparation, service, and filing of trial documents, motions in limine, and preparation of exhibit binders.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word/Outlook/Excel).

This is not a paralegal hybrid role.

• The hourly range in California for this role is $28.50 - $40.00 and represents the firm's good faith minimum and maximum range for this role at the time of posting. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidates experience, qualifications and location.
