Job summary

Boies Schiller Flexner LLP is seeking a highly analytical Research Analyst to support its contingency practice. The role targets early-career finance professionals applying rigorous financial, market, and case economics analysis to litigation opportunities.

You will work with attorneys, Finance, Legal Operations, and leadership to identify, evaluate, and monitor matters, translate analysis into actionable recommendations, and develop portfolio reporting for capital allocation and forecasting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field.
• Approximately 2–3 years of experience in investment banking, litigation funding, private equity, corporate development, or related analytical role.
• Experience with transaction execution, investment underwriting, valuation, financial due diligence, or capital deployment analysis is preferred.
• Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or other reporting/analytical tools is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess prospective contingency opportunities through research of claims, parties, industries, markets, disputes, recoveries, and key commercial considerations.
• Support underwriting and evaluation of new matters, including analysis of legal/commercial risks, duration, capital needs, outcomes, and risk-adjusted returns.
• Build and maintain detailed financial models for prospective and active matters, including fees, costs, recovery scenarios, timing, sensitivities, and returns.
• Synthesize information into investment memoranda and materials for leadership and committees.
• Monitor active matters, budgets, milestones, forecast changes, and portfolio concentration.
