Job summary

SBSB Law PLLC is seeking a Litigation Defense Associate Attorney to join our Galveston, Texas office. You will handle a diverse civil defense caseload and guide matters through discovery, depositions, motions, mediation, and trial preparation with direct client interaction.

Ideal candidates have a JD from an accredited law school, an active Texas Bar license, and 2–6 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in defense. First- or second-chair trial exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active Texas Bar license in good standing.
• Approximately 2–6 years of civil litigation experience.
• Defense litigation experience preferred.
• Deposition and substantive motion practice experience.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to independently manage deadlines and competing priorities.
• First- or second-chair trial experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle a diverse caseload involving civil defense matters.

• Handle a diverse caseload involving construction defect, personal injury, and other civil defense matters.
• Manage cases through all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation.
• Take and defend fact and expert witness depositions.
• Draft and argue substantive motions.
• Prepare case evaluations and develop litigation strategy.
• Communicate directly with clients, experts, opposing counsel, and other parties.
