Job summary

You will independently represent the insured, conduct extensive legal research, draft pleadings, and coordinate with claims professionals and clients throughout the process. You will prepare and present defense strategies, handle discovery, motions, and briefs, and participate in continuing education to maintain professional

Qualifications

• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Knowledge of Missouri and Kansas state laws, local court policies and procedures.
• 4–15 years' relevant practice group litigation experience.

Responsibilities

• Represent the insured before the assigned court and present witnesses and evidence.
• Analyze complex legal issues and develop defense strategies.
• Prepare pleadings, discovery requests, motions and briefs.
• Prepare for and handle all trial and appeal activities.
• Provide timely communications and legal advice to clients and claims professionals.
• Utilize independent judgment, research, litigation and analytical skills.
• Assist in developing training materials for the Claim Department.
• Collaborate with Claim and Litigation departments on special projects.
• Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel and clients per procedures.
• Ensure prompt, efficient disposition of assigned cases.
• Stay current with market trends and attend CLE seminars.
