Job summary

Alcoa is seeking a talented attorney to manage the U.S. litigation portfolio and support complex matters across international jurisdictions.

You will partner with business leaders, oversee outside counsel, and lead litigation support activities while gaining exposure to senior executives in a global enterprise. This role offers significant responsibility, collaboration across geographies, and opportunities to shape risk strategies in a dynamic and evolving legal environment.

Qualifications

  • 4–7 years of litigation experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.
  • Strong written and verbal communication with the ability to present to senior leaders.
  • Capable of cross-border matters and coordinating with outside counsel.

  • Manage a diverse U.S. litigation portfolio, including commercial, employment, environmental, regulatory, and safety matters.
  • Develop litigation strategies with business leaders and support effective dispute resolution.
  • Oversee outside counsel, including budgeting, staffing, and performance management.
  • Lead litigation support activities such as investigations, discovery, and witness preparation.
  • Provide business-focused updates to senior leadership and support risk reporting.
  • Coordinate reporting and processes with global legal teams and counsel.

About the role

At Alcoa, you'll join a global legal team that plays a critical role in supporting a business with operations across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. We're seeking a talented attorney to help manage Alcoa's U.S. litigation portfolio while supporting complex legal matters across multiple international jurisdictions.

This role offers direct exposure to senior business leaders, high-profile disputes, strategic business initiatives, and cross-border legal issues, making it an exceptional opportunity for attorneys looking to expand their expertise and build a long-term career within a global organization.   • Manage a diverse U.S. litigation portfolio, including commercial, employment, environmental, regulatory, safety-related, and other business disputes.
  • Partner with business leaders to assess risk, develop litigation strategies, and support effective dispute resolution.
  • Oversee outside counsel, including case strategy, budgeting, staffing, performance management, and claims handling.
  • Lead litigation support activities, including investigations, discovery, legal holds, document preservation, and witness preparation.
  • Prepare business-focused updates for senior legal and executive leadership while supporting litigation reserves, insurance matters, and risk reporting.
  • Collaborate with legal teams and outside counsel globally to coordinate reporting, improve processes, and support strategic business initiatives, investigations, and emerging legal risks.
What you can bring to the role
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Approximately 4-7 years of litigation experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or a combination of both.
  • Strong experience managing litigation matters, including case strategy, discovery, motion practice, and dispute resolution.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal issues to business leaders.
  • Strong business judgment and the ability to provide practical, risk-based legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset with experience working across functions, geographies, and cultures; experience with cross-border matters, outside counsel management, or industrial/manufacturing industries is a plus.
