Job summary

BizCap seeks a full-time Litigation and Collections Counsel in its New York office. You will handle litigation matters, judgment enforcement, and some corporate/contracts work, reporting to the Legal Department.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Bar admission in the relevant jurisdiction.
• 3+ years of hands-on litigation experience including motion practice, court appearances and discovery.
• Strong research, organizational and analytical skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent BizCap in litigation matters, including contract disputes and regulatory issues.
• Manage an active caseload with discovery, motions, trials and other proceedings.
• Oversee judgment enforcement procedures in compliance with laws.
• Provide legal counsel to business units and identify legal risks.
• Collaborate with external counsel as needed.
• Monitor fintech and financial services regulations and brief leadership on implications.

Job description

Position Overview: BizCap is seeking a full-time Litigation and Collections Counsel to join our team. In this role, you'll play a key part in handling legal matters, litigation and judgment enforcement, as well as some general corporate and contracts work. This is an on-site role in our NYC office.

Key Responsibilities

• Represent BizCap in a variety of litigation matters, including contract disputes, regulatory issues, collections and other legal proceedings.
• Manage and oversee an active caseload including discovery, motion practice, trials and more.
• Oversee judgment enforcement procedures, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
• Provide legal counsel and guidance to various business units within the company, helping to identify and mitigate legal risks.
• Collaborate with external counsel as necessary.
• Stay up-to-date on relevant legal developments, including fintech and financial services regulations, and communicate their implications to the leadership team.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction.
• 3+ years of hands-on litigation experience including motion practice, court appearances and discovery.
• Strong legal research, organizational and analytical skills.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
