Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program (or California declaration).
  • Minimum of four years as a paralegal in a law firm (preferably).
  • Experience with U.S. government regulatory filings and databases.

Responsibilities

  • Provide substantive paralegal support across litigation, investigations, and regulatory matters.
  • Coordinate discovery and document-intensive matters with attorneys and support teams.
  • Assist with pleadings, motions, exhibits, discovery requests/responses, and regulatory submissions.
  • Coordinate deposition preparation, organize exhibits and witness materials.
  • Provide trial/hearing support and manage case materials while protecting confidential information.

About the Role

The Litivation, CFIUS Paralegal is an integral part of Latham’s Legal, Professional, and Paralegal team. This role will be responsible for providing advanced legal and procedural support to attorneys on complex litigation, investigations, and regulatory matters, handling substantive assignments with limited supervision, while coordinating assignments, priorities, deadlines, and case activities with attorneys and case teams. This role will be located in our Washington, D.C. office. Please note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Providing substantive paralegal support throughout all phases of litigation, investigations, and related proceedings, from matter inception through final resolution, performing complex assignments with appropriate attorney supervision
  • Coordinating and assisting with discovery and document-intensive matters, including document collection and review, organizing discovery and investigative materials, preparing and tracking productions, and collaborating with attorneys and internal support teams
  • Assisting with the preparation, review, and filing of pleadings, motions, exhibits, discovery requests and responses, regulatory submissions, and other legal materials in accordance with applicable rules, requirements, and deadlines
  • Coordinating deposition, witness, and client interview preparation, including organizing exhibits, chronologies, witness files, interview materials, and other supporting documentation
  • Providing trial, hearing, and investigative support, including preparing and organizing exhibits, witness materials, and case files; coordinating logistics and internal resources; tracking exhibits, testimony, and other matter developments
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Demonstrate advanced substantive, procedural, technical, and practice-specific knowledge, with the ability to perform complex assignments with limited guidance and seek input appropriately on novel or higher-risk issues
  • Exhibit advanced proficiency with relevant legal technology, applications, research tools, and firm systems, with the ability to apply them effectively to support complex work
  • Possess strong attention to detail and quality-control skills, with the ability to consistently produce accurate, high-quality work on complex assignments with limited supervision

And have:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • A paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or signed declaration if located in a California office
  • A minimum of four (4) years of experience as a paralegal, in a law firm setting, preferably
  • Experience with U.S. government regulatory filings and databases, preferably

Pay Range
