Job summary

The Hanover Insurance Group seeks a Senior Trial Attorney to join our Tennessee-based litigation team. You will independently manage a complex caseload from inception through resolution, partnering with claims professionals and insured clients to deliver strategic, cost-effective outcomes and exceptional legal representation.

Flexibility is offered with in-office, hybrid, or remote work arrangements. A Tennessee Bar admission is required and Georgia bar admission is a plus.

Qualifications

• Preferred to have insurance defense trial experience.
• Minimum 5+ years litigation experience; trial experience preferred.
• Must have a valid driver’s license, an acceptable MVR, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Must be admitted to the Tennessee Bar and licensed to practice law in assigned jurisdictions, maintaining active status and good standing.
• Able to work in a team environment with other attorneys, adjusters, claims professionals and support staff.
• Computer literacy, including MS Word, Lexis/Westlaw, and daily management of e-mail and calendar.

In this role, you will independently manage a complex caseload from inception through resolution, partnering with claims professionals and insured clients to deliver strategic, cost-effective outcomes and exceptional legal representation. The Hanover offers flexible work arrangements, and this role can be performed in-office, or through a hybrid or remote work arrangement. Candidates must be admitted to practice law in Tennessee, with Georgia bar admission strongly desired but not required. Insurance defense litigation experience is required. While trial experience is preferred, attorneys with strong litigation backgrounds—including motion practice, depositions, hearings, mediations, and other advocacy experience—are encouraged to apply. Position Overview

Independently investigates and manages cases of moderate to high exposure and complexity in civil litigation from the inception of the lawsuit until conclusion through dismissal, settlement, or trial.

Works with adjuster and clients to resolve claims as expeditiously and effectively as possible.
