Job summary

A well-regarded Kansas City law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney with at least 1 year of legal experience to join its growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney to build on their litigation experience while working alongside seasoned attorneys on sophisticated matters.

Two openings are available; insurance coverage or defense experience is strongly preferred, but broader litigation backgrounds are welcome. All levels of experience are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of litigation experience.
• Missouri bar admission in good standing.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
• Insurance coverage/defense experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with general liability or related defense litigation is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle a variety of litigation matters with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Assist with discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, requests for admission, and document review.
• Participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and other proceedings as appropriate.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties in a professional manner.
• Analyze legal issues, develop case strategies, and assist with all phases of litigation.
• Manage case deadlines and maintain organized matter files.
• Collaborate with experienced attorneys and legal professionals on complex matters.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships while providing responsive and high-quality legal service.

Ideal Candidate

• 1+ year of litigation experience at least
• Missouri bar admission in good standing
• Strong legal research and writing skills

• Strong attention to detail and sound professional judgment
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team
• Insurance coverage, insurance defense, or related experience strongly preferred
• Experience with general liability, casualty, professional liability, or other defense litigation is a plus
