Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a litigation counsel in Cincinnati, OH to advise on pre-litigation and active matters arising from the company’s property and casualty insurance operations. You will work with business clients to tailor legal guidance to each specialty division and manage outside counsel for policy-related disputes.

The role requires JD and bar admission with at least three years of litigation experience.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
• Strong written and oral communication skills for all levels of the organization.
• Minimum of three years of litigation experience in a law firm setting.

Responsibilities

• Counsels business clients on litigation and pre-litigation matters arising from the Company’s property and casualty insurance operations.
• Develops relationships throughout the Company so that legal advice is tailored to the unique needs of each specialty insurance division.
• Manages and collaborates with outside counsel in insurance policy–related and general commercial litigation.
• Participates in mediations, negotiates settlements, and prepares settlement and other litigation-related agreements.
• Counsels on regulatory matters associated with litigation.
• Collaborates with the Legal team to achieve optimal results for business clients.
• Advises business clients on litigation-related questions with other shared services groups.
• Monitors legal and regulatory issues and identifies trends and emerging risks.

Job description

• Counsels business clients on litigation and pre-litigation matters arising from the Company’s property and casualty insurance operations, from underwriting to claims to general business matters
• Develops relationships throughout the Company so that legal advice is tailored to the unique needs of each of our specialty insurance divisions
• Manages, and collaborates with, outside counsel representing the Company in insurance policy–related and general commercial litigation
• Participates in mediations, negotiates settlements, and prepares settlement and other litigation-related agreements
• Counsels business and corporate services operations on regulatory matters associated with litigation
• Collaboratively works with other members of the Legal team to achieve optimal results for our business clients
• Partners with other shared services groups to advise business clients on litigation-related questions
• Monitors legal and regulatory issues and identifies and assesses trends and emerging risks
• Handles other matters within P&C Legal as needed
• Performs other duties as assigned

Requirements

• A JD from an accredited law school and active license to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
• At least three years of litigation experience in a law firm setting
• Prior experience in insurance is helpful but not required
• Strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
• Common sense, good judgment, and solution‑oriented attitude toward legal issues.
