Job summary

Ice Miller LLP in Indianapolis seeks a mid-level Commercial Litigation Associate to join our Litigation Practice Group. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of experience and a strong interest in leading cases, managing teams, and contributing to strategic case development and execution.

You will handle complex litigation, manage disputes in federal and state courts, draft pleadings, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with partners on business development and client engagement, with a clear path

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
• Active Indiana law license.
• Three to five years of experience practicing law in a law firm.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent analytical skills and business judgment.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of complex litigation, including case assessment, pleadings, discovery strategy, motion practice, depositions, trial and/or oral advocacy.
• Manage business disputes in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels, including coordinating experts, overseeing large case dockets, and leading fact investigations (interviews and records review).
• Draft and develop litigation strategies, pleadings, briefs, and motions, and engage in strategic depositions and witness preparation.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, supporting their professional development and training.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, including general counsels, executives, boards, and other key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with partners on business development and client relationship management, including participating in pitches, contributing to presentations and proposals, and supporting ongoing client engagement, with a clear path for advancement and active encouragement to grow a practice.
