Job summary

Ice Miller seeks a mid-level Commercial Litigation Associate to join our Litigation Practice Group, preferably in Baltimore. Ideal candidates have 3–6 years of experience and a strong interest in leading cases, managing teams, and contributing to strategic case development and execution.

You will handle complex litigation, mentor junior staff, and collaborate with partners on client engagement, with a clear path for advancement and growth within Ice Miller LLP.

Qualifications

• JD from an accredited law school with strong academics.
• 3+ years of law firm experience.
• Active Maryland law license.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Excellent analytical skills and business judgment.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Permanent authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Handle all aspects of complex litigation, including case assessment, pleadings, discovery strategy, motion practice, depositions, trial and/or oral advocacy.
• Manage business disputes in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels, including coordinating experts, overseeing large case dockets, and leading fact investigations.
• Draft and develop litigation strategies, pleadings, briefs, and motions, and engage in strategic depositions and witness preparation.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, supporting their professional development and training.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, including general counsels, executives, boards, and other key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with partners on business development and client relationship management, including participating in pitches, contributing to presentations and proposals, and supporting ongoing client engagement.

In this position, you will:

• Handle all aspects of complex litigation, including case assessment, pleadings, discovery strategy, motion practice, depositions, trial and/or oral advocacy.
• Manage business disputes in federal and state courts and before arbitration panels, including coordinating experts, overseeing large case dockets, and leading fact investigations (interviews and records review).
• Draft and develop litigation strategies, pleadings, briefs, and motions, and engage in strategic depositions and witness preparation.
• Supervise and mentor junior associates and paralegals, supporting their professional development and training.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, including general counsels, executives, boards, and other key stakeholders.
• Collaborate with partners on business development and client relationship management, including participating in pitches, contributing to presentations and proposals, and supporting ongoing client engagement, with a clear path for advancement and active encouragement to grow a practice.

Requirements:

• J.D. from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
• At least three (3) years of experience practicing law in a law firm
• Active law license in Maryland
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Excellent analytical skills and business judgement
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States

• The salary range for this position is $187,000 to $225,000 based on experience, plus opportunities for discretionary and hours-based bonus
