Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from ABA-accredited law school.
• Admission to the Illinois State Bar.
• 0-5 years of litigation, workers' compensation, insurance defense, or related experience.
• Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize responsibilities, and work independently.
• Interest in building practical litigation experience in a defense-focused practice.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload from assignment through closure.
• Review files and analyze claims, defenses, and strategies.
• Represent insurers and policyholders in workers' compensation matters.
• Provide counsel in proceedings, arbitrations, trials, and appeals.
• Communicate with clients and provide case status updates.
• Conduct legal research and develop defense strategies.
• Attend court appearances, depositions, and hearings.
• Take and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery documents.
• Assist with expert witness retention and trial preparation.
• Meet a 1800 billable hour annual target.
• Travel as needed for hearings and depositions.
