Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and active Michigan Bar admission or eligibility.
• Approximately 3+ years of litigation experience.
• Substantive experience in general civil liability defense, commercial litigation, or insurance coverage.
• Experience managing litigation matters, conducting discovery, drafting motions, and participating in depositions and court proceedings.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines, exercise sound judgment, and work independently with a team.

Responsibilities

• Managing a caseload of litigation matters aligned with experience and practice group.
• Developing case strategies and collaborating with partners on complex disputes.
• Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, and other legal documents.
• Conducting legal research and providing practical analysis and recommendations.
• Handling written discovery, document review, depositions and other pretrial activities.
• Representing clients in court appearances, hearings, mediations, and negotiations.
• Communicating with clients and updating on case developments; ensuring high-quality service.

Scion Legal is partnering with a respected, established Michigan law firm seeking multiple Litigation Associate Attorneys to join its growing team in Southfield. With opportunities across general civil liability defense, commercial litigation, and insurance coverage, this is an excellent opportunity for attorneys looking to handle sophisticated matters, work alongside experienced litigators, and build a long-term career in a collaborative environment. Candidates should have substantive experience in at least one of these practice areas; experience across all three is not required.

• Competitive base salary of approximately $110,000–$150,000 , depending on experience and practice area.

If You Have:

• A Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active Michigan Bar admission or eligibility for admission.
• Approximately 3+ years of litigation experience
• Substantive experience in at least one of the following areas: General Civil Liability Defense: Bodily injury, premises liability, construction litigation, or other complex liability matters.
• Commercial Litigation: Business disputes, contract litigation, or other complex commercial matters.
• Insurance Coverage: Insurance policy interpretation, coverage disputes, or related litigation.
• Experience managing litigation matters, conducting discovery, drafting substantive motions, and participating in depositions and court proceedings.
• Strong legal research, analytical, writing, negotiation, and oral advocacy skills.
• The ability to manage competing deadlines, exercise sound judgment, and work independently while collaborating with a litigation team.
• A coachable, team-oriented approach and an interest in continued professional growth.
• The ability to commute regularly to the Southfield office or a willingness to relocate.

You Will Be:

• Managing a caseload of litigation matters aligned with your experience and assigned practice group.
• Developing case strategies and working closely with partners and colleagues on complex disputes.
• Drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, and other substantive legal documents.
• Conducting legal research and providing practical analysis and recommendations.
• Handling written discovery, document review, depositions and other aspects of pretrial litigation.
• Representing clients in court appearances, hearings, mediations, negotiations, and other proceedings, as appropriate.
• Working on sophisticated civil liability, commercial litigation, or insurance coverage matters based on your practice background.
• Communicating with clients, evaluating litigation risks, and providing timely updates on case developments.
• Collaborating with attorneys and support professionals to deliver responsive, high-quality legal representation.
• Meeting an annual billable-hour expectation of 1,800 hours while maintaining excellent client service and work product.
