Job summary

Nbutexas in Memphis seeks a Litigation Associate Attorney to join a busy team handling sophisticated commercial disputes. This role offers client interaction, meaningful courtroom experience, and long-term growth with a nationally respected defense-side practice.

The attorney will work on complex commercial matters, collaborate with seasoned litigators, and contribute to a supportive, client-focused culture in the Memphis office.

Qualifications

• Active Tennessee Bar license in good standing.
• 3–6 years of commercial litigation experience.
• Ability to independently manage litigation responsibilities while working collaboratively within a team.
• Experience handling all phases of litigation, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, and court appearances.
• Strong legal writing, research, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience drafting discovery, motions, and dispositive motions.
• Experience conducting and defending depositions.
• Excellent communication and client relationship management abilities.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Comfortable appearing in court and advocating on behalf of clients.
• Ability to work full-time in the Memphis office.

Responsibilities

• Manage and support commercial litigation matters through all phases of the litigation process
• Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, responses, and legal memoranda
• Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategies
• Take and defend depositions
• Prepare for and attend hearings, mediations, and court proceedings
• Assist with case management from inception through resolution
• Communicate directly with clients, opposing counsel, witnesses, and experts
• Collaborate with partners and attorneys across the firm's litigation practice
• Provide practical legal guidance and strategic support to clients
