Job summary

Sterlington PLLC is seeking a Junior Litigation Associate to join its high-caliber litigation practice. You will work directly with partners and senior associates on complex matters, taking ownership of your work and developing autonomy while researching sophisticated issues with minimal oversight.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school; transcript required.
• Licensed in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; preferred: NY, CA, DE, IL, DC, FL or TX.
• 2–3 years of experience in complex litigation at a top commercial litigation firm.
• Strong academic record; top of class.
• Clerkship plus summer associate experience preferred; return offer after summer program acceptable.
• 1–3 years at top commercial litigation firms with bet-the-company or high-value matters.
• Hands-on litigation experience beyond research, including oral argument, witness examination, or hearings.
• Deposition and trial experience preferred; exposure to AI tools is a bonus.

Responsibilities

As a firm, we focus on the economic as well as the legal aspects of our matters.Among other strengths, Sterlington is the ultimate law firm for founders, senior executives, and UHNWIs as well as their related businesses.

The firm is now seeking a Junior Litigation Associate to step into a high-responsibility role working directly with partners and senior associates on complex and demanding matters. This is not a volume-driven role.
What You'll Do:

It is suited for a lawyer who:

• Takes true ownership of their work
• Is comfortable operating with growing autonomy
• Can work through and research sophisticated issues with minimal oversight
• Has the flexibility to accommodate long hours when matters require it

You will work across a broad range of high-level disputes, including:

• Complex commercial litigation
• Arbitration and alternative dispute resolution
• Business and shareholder disputes
• Securities and fraud matters
• Defamation, privacy, and reputational risk matters
• Disputes involving intellectual property, data privacy, cybersecurity, and trade secrets

What We're Looking For:

• D. from an ABA-accredited law school; law school transcript required
• Licensed and in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction; preferred: NY, CA, DE, IL, DC, FL or TX
• 2–3 years of experience in complex litigation at a top commercial litigation firm
• Strong academic record, top of the class at a well-regarded law school
• The ideal candidate would have a federal clerkship combined with a summer associate position and 1–2 years of experience at a top complex commercial litigation firm. Where there is no clerkship, candidates should have received and accepted a return offer following their summer associate position.
• 1–3 years at one of the top commercial litigation powerhouse firms. This refers to firms with a strong record of success in bet-the-company or high-value litigation
• Meaningful hands-on litigation experience beyond legal research and memo writing. Stand-up experience in court, arbitration, or adversarial proceedings, including oral argument, examining witnesses, or presenting at hearings, is a strong plus.
• Deposition and trial experience preferred
• Breadth of experience across different subject matters and types of cases
• Exposure to and experience using AI tools such as Claude or Harvey is a bonus
