Verrus, LLC, a well-established Los Angeles boutique law firm, seeks a talented litigation associate to join its growing team. The firm handles sophisticated matters for businesses and individuals and offers meaningful responsibility early on.

The candidate will draft pleadings and motions, conduct research, manage discovery, take depositions, and communicate with clients within a collaborative, boutique environment. California bar required.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of litigation experience at a reputable law firm.
• Strong legal research, writing, discovery, and motion practice.
• Excellent written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and sound legal judgment.
• Ability to manage matters and deadlines with increasing autonomy.
• Active California Bar membership in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy and preparation.
• Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, and conferences.
• Manage written discovery, document review, and witness preparation.
• Communicate with clients and provide updates on case developments.
• Work closely with partners and attorneys on case strategy, negotiations, and resolution.

Responsibilities:

• Legal Writing: Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery, and other litigation documents.


• Research & Strategy: Conduct legal research and assist with case strategy and preparation.


• Depositions & Hearings: Take and defend depositions and participate in hearings, mediations, and conferences.


• Discovery: Manage written discovery, document review, and witness preparation.


• Client Contact: Communicate with clients and provide updates on case developments.
