Job summary

Core Specialty Insurance Holdings, Inc. seeks an experienced claims professional to adjust and manage claims against security companies, private investigators and alarm installation/monitoring firms from receipt through resolution or appeal.

You will identify witnesses and documents, analyze coverage, coordinate with underwriting, oversee defense counsel, maintain files and reserves, prepare internal reports, and manage settlements, with occasional travel to mediations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• 3+ years claims experience preferred.
• Law degree is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify witnesses, employees, documents and insured knowledge of allegations.
• Analyze coverage and prepare coverage position letters; confer with coverage counsel.
• Coordinate with underwriting on risk potential and policy language intent.
• Maintain diaries for file tasks, settlements, mediations and trial.
• Oversee defense counsel from assignment through litigation and settlement planning.
• Maintain claim files, reserves and disposition plans per guidelines and regulations.
• Prepare internal reports for reserves and development to management.
• Communicate significant developments and reserve changes to carriers and management.
• Review and approve litigation budgets submitted by defense counsel.
• Review inactive open claims for closure and reserve adjustments.
• Attend mediations and settlement conferences as required.
• Monitor and approve/reject litigation expenses.
• Prepare settlement drafts and review releases for accuracy.
• Travel occasionally for matters not solvable via video conference.
