Job description

Ridgeview Classical Schools is seeking interested and qualified candidates for a faculty position in the Literature & History Departments. Successful candidates will teach entirely in the upper school (grades 7-12) concentrating on courses in literature, history, and principles of composition (grammar, logic, and rhetoric). Preference will be given to candidates with a PhD or MA in related fields such as history, philosophy, political theory, English, and political science.

Ridgeview neither requires nor prefers candidates with a teacher certification and would rather solicit applications from individuals who have demonstrated mastery in these fields. Teaching experience is preferred but is not essential. Ideal candidates will be familiar with the fundamentals of classical education and defenders of the Western tradition.

Interested individuals should submit a complete application to the Executive Assistant. A complete application includes:

  1. Completed Ridgeview application (found on the Careers page of Ridgeview's website).
  2. Letter of interest.
  3. Copies of transcripts.
  4. A one- to three-page written response to Russell Kirk’s The Ethical Purpose of Literary Studies (found on the Careers page of Ridgeview's website).

Upon submitting a complete application, candidates may be contacted for an interview with the Department Head. Successful candidates will then be asked to conduct a mock teach and interview with a hiring committee. After this, final hiring decisions are made.
