Job summary

KIPP Memphis is seeking a Literacy Director to lead literacy instruction across campuses. This role sets the vision for standards-aligned reading and writing and builds instructional capacity among teachers and school leaders.

You will provide real-time coaching, model lessons, plan curriculum units, and analyze student work and data to drive targeted interventions and continuous improvement. The position collaborates with campus leaders, supports ACT, PreACT, and state assessments, and leads

Qualifications

• Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
• Deep knowledge of K–12 literacy content and standards-aligned practices.
• Experience using student work and assessment data to drive instructional decisions.
• Experience coaching or leading adults (teachers, coaches, or instructional leaders).
• Experience teaching literacy/English language arts, including high school level.

Responsibilities

• Provide real-time coaching and instructional modeling for teachers, including live observation and feedback.
• Support lesson planning, curriculum planning, and standards-aligned instruction across campuses.
• Analyze student work and writing outcomes to identify trends and inform coaching priorities.
• Develop literacy intervention strategies for students reading below grade level and align supports with RTI processes.
• Align instruction to ACT, PreACT, and state assessments to ensure college and career readiness.
• Collaborate with school leaders to strengthen English instructional practices network-wide.
• Design and deliver professional learning on literacy instruction across campuses and track annual literacy goals.
• Represent KIPP Memphis literacy instruction in network-wide and community settings and support staff development.
