Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a Reading Specialist to support evidence-based literacy instruction and a structured literacy program at the assigned school. You will coach teachers, facilitate professional learning, and help deliver interventions aligned with literacy benchmarks.

The role requires a Master's in reading specialization, Virginia teaching license eligibility with endorsement, and at least three years of classroom reading experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree from a state-approved program in reading specialization.
• Eligible for Virginia Teaching License with Reading Specialist endorsement.
• Three years of successful classroom teaching experience with reading as primary responsibility.
• Experience in literacy education preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of evidence-based literacy instruction and a structured literacy program through instructional coaching.
• Collaborate with administrators and teachers to develop reading plans and monitor progress.
• Provide professional learning, PLC facilitation, modeling, co-teaching, co-planning, and observation feedback.
• Maintain organized systems for reading and writing materials and inventory.
• Assist with family engagement and collaboration with other coaches.
