LIS Validation Analyst (Contract)

Classification: Contract

Contract Length: 12+ months

Work Location: Remote w/ Travel

Travel Frequency: Approximately 25% (about one week per month), depending on project needs.

Position Summary

The Lab Validation Analyst is responsible for implementing, validating, and supporting the MEDITECH Laboratory Information System (LIS) and related integrations within healthcare environments. This role ensures that the lab modules, analyzers, workflows, and connected systems are accurately configured to support clinical and operational requirements across Laboratory, Pathology, and Point of Care (POC) areas.

The analyst will collaborate with cross-functional teams—including laboratory personnel, pathology staff, IT, and project management—to achieve effective system deployment and optimization. Key responsibilities include testing system functionality, performing quality assurance checks, validating analyzer and device integrations, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Travel frequency expected to be approximately one week per month (minimum), for on-site validation and go-live support (possible overnight shifts during go-lives).
  • Installation, configuration, and validation of clinical electronic healthcare systems.
  • Working knowledge of Health Information Systems; MEDITECH Expanse preferred.
  • Lead project tasks and assignments with minimal supervision, including planning, workflow assessment, build coordination, testing, and go-live activities.
  • Lead and engage others in project management processes such as issue/risk management, conversion management, communications, equipment evaluation, and status reporting.
  • Collaborate with clients to assess and optimize laboratory, pathology, and POC workflows and system functionality.
  • Develop and maintain documentation including requirements, functional designs, test scripts, validation summaries, and client presentations.
  • Participate in the build and maintenance of LIS dictionaries, reference laboratory databases, instrument and analyzer interfaces, POC device integrations, and related workflows.
  • Validate and monitor data exchanges for Lab, Pathology, and POC interfaces, ensuring compliance with regulatory and billing standards.
  • Actively engage in process improvement and culture change initiatives based on client and team feedback.
  • Mentor peers, share best practices, and contribute to departmental methodology and lessons learned.
  • Prioritize tasks, track deliverables, and maintain high standards for documentation accuracy and completeness.

Requirements

  • Licensed or certified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS/CLS) – active license required.
  • Expertise in Lab integrations, including instrument, analyzer, and POC device connectivity.
  • Knowledge of LAB and Pathology dictionaries, analyzer setup, interface validation, and best practice implementation. MEDITECH highly preferred.
  • Ability to work overnight shifts during go-lives.
  • Intermediate to expert proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, and adaptability in a collaborative environment.
  • Professional demeanor, positive attitude, and commitment to customer service.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, methods, and processes.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Laboratory Science, or related field preferred.
  • Active state or national licensure/certification as a Laboratory Technician or Scientist required (e.g., ASCP, AMT, or equivalent).
  • Equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience will be considered.
