Job summary

Arcfield is seeking a Mid-Level Linux-Focused System Administrator at the Navel Research Lab (NRL). The role involves managing mission-critical lab infrastructure, designing Linux configurations, and enforcing security, encryption, and compliance standards for government projects.

Strong scripting and automation skills are essential. Required are 5–7 years of Linux admin experience, a Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS, and a US SECRET DoD clearance with ability to obtain TS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT or related technical field.
• 5–7 years of hands-on Linux system administration experience.
• Experience with hardware and software infrastructure components.
• In-depth security practices incl. encryption, firewalls, access controls.
• Experience implementing DoD security standards (STIGs).
• Scripting and automation experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain lab environments for performance, availability, and scalability.
• Design, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems.
• Manage LAN/WAN system requirements.
• Implement cybersecurity controls and encryption.
• Develop automation scripts using Bash, Python, Ansible.
• Oversee builds and Git version control.
• Translate complex requirements into actionable plans and communicate across teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams in fast-paced lab environments.
