Job summary

EXPANSIA, as part of a Defense Technology platform, seeks a Linux-focused professional for installation, operation, and maintenance of Linux-based software at Langley AFB. The role supports AF DCGS Test and Operational Enterprises, requiring a TS/SCI clearance, 8570 Security+, and strong communication skills.

The candidate will patch, upgrade, and document enterprise changes, maintain Puppet and Satellite servers, and collaborate with OEMs to resolve complex issues, including potential 24/7

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field; substitutions allowed (6 years of experience for degree or associate's degree plus 4 years).
• Ability to perform all functional duties independently.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel if required.
• 8570 Compliant certificate (Security +) is a must.
• Linux + certification preferred.
• Ability to support a 24/7 operational mission with shift work including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Applies security patches and OS upgrades to ensure security and integrity.
• Assists in new infrastructure projects.
• Ensures accuracy of documentation for enterprise changes.
• Performs daily system checks on Linux assets to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
• Maintains Puppet and Satellite servers to deploy Linux VMs.
• Collaborates with OEM engineers to resolve issues and document fixes.

RESPONSIBILITES

• Performs installation, operations and maintenance, and disposal of Linux-based IT software (operating systems, endpoint configuration management, management servers, application servers, ISR applications, etc.) using systems analysis techniques and procedures to ensure fit and function of software to AF DCGS functional specifications
• Performs analysis, troubleshooting, and problem resolution and system administration for AF DCGS Test and Operational Enterprises; problems resolved are difficult and somewhat complex
• Applies security patches and operating system upgrades to ensure the security and integrity of the technical environment
• Assists in new infrastructure projects
• Ensures accuracy of documentation for assigned enterprise changes
• Works under the supervision of more senior personnel
• Performs daily system checks on Linux assets in the Test and Operational Enterprises to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability
• Performs system checks and preventative updates.
• Configures Yellowdog Update Manager to install and test Linux patches.
• Performs installation of SW as defined by RFCs (Request for Change) and TCTOs (Time Compliance Technical Order).
• Reviews and redline configuration files and documentation as required.
• Maintains Puppet and Satellite servers to facilitate automated deployment of Linux Virtual Machines (VMs).
• Works with OEM engineers to resolve elevated system issues, identify risks and execute remediation procedures and document these fixes by updating procedures and authoring Knowledge articles

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

• Clearance:Active TS/SCI Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology or a related field and 0-3 years of experience Substitutions: 6 years of relevant experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree, or an Associate's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience
• Ability to perform all functional duties independently

• Willingness to travel if required
• 8570 Compliant certificate (Security +) is a must
• Linux + Certification (Preferred Certification in addition to DoD 8570 certification listed above)

• $79,020 - $110,000 a yearThere are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, geographic location, education, and certifications.
