Job summary

ASCEND Aerospace & Technology, LLC is seeking a mid-level Linux Engineer to support COSMOS mission operations at Johnson Space Center. You will operate in production, staging, and DR environments, with on-call rotation and core hours 9am–3pm, plus occasional evenings and weekends.

The role requires 5–10+ years in Linux engineering, strong scripting and automation skills, and experience with VMware, Red Hat Satellite, Docker/Kubernetes, and monitoring tools. NASA badge eligibility is required.

Qualifications

• B.S degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or similar field.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience.
• Must be able to obtain a NASA PIV badge for NASA credentials.

Responsibilities

• Manage configuration baselines of OS, software and security compliance.
• Work with monitoring/performance tools (SolarWinds).
• Assess requirements of systems and applications for hardware, software and operations.
• Automate manual processes using PowerShell, Power CLI or Ansible.
• Investigate new tech and advise on system improvements and lifecycle.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure prompt service and delivery under deadlines.
• Maintain on-call support rotation and shift coverage.
