Job summary

ASCEND Aerospace & Technology, LLC seeks a Data Acquisition Hardware Engineer for the COSMOS contract at Johnson Space Center in Houston, TX. The role focuses on platform hardware and data acquisition with 5–10 years of relevant experience, supporting mission operations on-site.

The engineer will oversee hardware installation, perform root-cause analysis, integrate with virtualization and networks, and contribute to design, documentation, and vendor coordination for mission-critical systems.

Qualifications

Experience in hardware platform development and system integration.
Experience with schematic capture and PCB layouts.
Strong knowledge of analog/digital interfaces and high-speed interfaces.
Experience with DAQ systems and industrial protocols.

Responsibilities

Oversee hardware installation, upgrades, and lifecycle management.
Perform root-cause analysis and vendor RMA coordination.
Collaborate with virtualization, storage, and network teams to integrate hardware.
Design, develop, integrate, and sustain low-voltage control systems and DAQ infrastructure.
Lead design, schematic capture, and component selection for hardware.
Program and integrate PLCs, SBCs for test stands and platforms.
Develop detailed technical documentation and BOM management.
Translate customer requirements into engineering designs.
Provide status, estimates, and presentations to NASA stakeholders.
Troubleshoot complex system anomalies and provide sustaining engineering.
