Job summary

GDIT seeks a Systems Administrator Linux SME with Top Secret/SCI + Poly to lead Linux system administration for a high‑visibility, mission‑critical environment in Maryland. You will install, configure, and secure Linux systems, including virtualization and cloud components, while collaborating with developers and ISSO.

You’ll automate workflows, manage patches, and document configurations to ensure robust, scalable operations with ongoing career growth and security oversight.

Qualifications

• SME-level proficiency with Linux operating systems.
• Active TS/SCI with polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, manage, and maintain Linux systems, including virtualization platforms and cloud computing environments.
• Networking: determine network specifications, input/output processes, and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility; identify and resolve network issues.
• System Security: implement security measures with ISSO, conduct audits, and ensure compliance with customer security policies.
• Collaboration: partner with software developers and IT stakeholders to support system integration, patch workflows, and maintenance activities.
• Automation: develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to reduce manual effort and increase efficiency.
• Patch Management: maintain systems with software updates, patches, and upgrades while validating functionality and compatibility.

The likely salary range for this position is $170,000 - $230,000. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
