Job summary

Rampant Technologies is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to support and advance our IT infrastructure, with a focus on RHEL-based Linux systems and a shift toward Kubernetes-based containerization. Qualifications

Must have strong Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) experience with foundational Kubernetes knowledge.
Extensive experience installing, configuring, securing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large-scale Linux environments.
Advanced troubleshooting across Linux, networking, and storage technologies.
Proficient with infrastructure automation tools such as Puppet or Ansible.
Experience using version control systems, particularly Git and GitLab.
Proficient in Bash and Python scripting.
Strong organizational and multi-project management skills.
Clear ability to communicate business and technical needs to diverse audiences.
Excellent oral and written communication skills for documentation and coordination.
Self-starter with proactive, strategic mindset.
Professionalism and diplomacy in interactions with colleagues and partners.

Education And Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or technical discipline is desired with eight (8) years of relevant experience
Five (5) years of relevant experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree

Required Skills

Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments with at least a foundational understanding of Kubernetes
Extensive experience in installing, configuring, securing, maintaining, and troubleshooting large-scale physical and/or virtual Linux environments
Advanced troubleshooting skills across Linux, as well as networking and storage technologies
Proficient with infrastructure automation tools such as Puppet or Ansible
Experience using version control systems, particularly Git and GitLab
Proficient in scripting with Bash and/or Python
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic environment
Ability to clearly communicate business and technical needs to both technical and non-technical audiences
Excellent oral communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across all levels of a contract or project team

Desired Skills

Experience in managing teams or direct reports on past projects or within previous organizations
Knowledge of Information Assurance (IA) principles and organizational confidentiality requirements

Familiarity with GPFS/IBM ESS
Exposure to cloud environments and architectures, particularly under Kubernetes orchestration
General understanding of IP networking, including switching, subnets, and VLANs
Basic knowledge of hardware infrastructure, including servers, blade chassis, fiber channel, and SANs
