The Role:

The Linux L3 Systems Engineer is an intermediate level position responsible for leading efforts to prevent, monitor and respond to information/data breaches and cyber-attacks. The overall objective of this role is to ensure the execution of Information Security directives and activities in alignment with Citi's data security policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Technical support for the Security Infrastructure and Applications Capacity, Performance and Stability reporting and support
  • Help innovate and bring process and technical enhancements
  • Lead initiative to develop/improve scripts and other programs for system monitoring and maintenance
  • Facilitate infrastructure projects and security assessment for the infrastructure with the associated applications in scope
  • Be responsible to assess the risk and associated impact of all operational issues and change events, while reacting quickly to escalate to technology management in a timely manner when required
  • Work closely with the development team to ensure the operational requirements are met during the project transition
  • Work across all levels of the organization with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work with high priority global stakeholders within critical timelines
  • Deploy and design large scale complex security ecosystems

Qualifications

  • 5+ years' relevant data security experience as it relates to the responsibilities and qualifications
  • Proficiency in one or more of these scripting languages – Python, Unix Shell, Perl & PowerShell scripting
  • Strong proficiency with Linux and Windows
  • Hands-on experience working with various flavors of server operating systems
  • Experience with any NoSQL databases will also be considered
  • Must have experience with production server support, application upgrades and project life cycle and SDLC process
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP technologies and internet routing protocols
  • Experience with RDBMS from application programmer’s perspective
  • Firm knowledge of how to interface with these databases, analyze & write complex queries & procedures
  • Experience with Data Protection Technologies like Physical or Virtual Hardware Security Modules, Public key Infrastructure (PKI), Encryption and Tokenization will be considered a plus
  • Consistently clear and concise written and verbal communication
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Relevant Certifications are a plus (e.g., Linux+, RHCSA, LFCS, LPIC, MCSE, etc.)
