ThreatLocker is seeking a Linux Kernel Developer to design, develop, and maintain low-level Linux components that support endpoint security, application control, and threat prevention across distributions and architectures.

The role focuses on kernel-level development with C/C++, eBPF, and kernel modules, ensuring compatibility across Red Hat, Debian, Ubuntu, and SUSE, plus x86_64 and ARM64 platforms. A strong security-focused mindset is essential.

• 5+ years of software development experience.

POSITION OVERVIEW

ThreatLocker is seeking a Linux Kernel Developer to join our cybersecurity product team. In this role, you will design, develop, debug, and maintain low-level Linux components that support endpoint security, application control, and threat prevention across multiple Linux distributions and architectures.

DEVELOPMENT — Full-Time

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop, debug, test, and maintain Linux kernel-level components using C/C++
• Work with kernel modules, eBPF , system calls, filesystems, networking, memory management, and process monitoring
• Validate kernel functionality from user space and work with user-space APIs
• Debug complex kernel, performance, compatibility, and system-level issues
• Support compatibility across Red Hat, Debian, Ubuntu, SUSE , and other Linux environments
• Support kernel and platform enablement across x86_64 and ARM64
• Contribute to build, packaging, CI/CD, and automated kernel testing processes
• Support platform and Linux distribution porting where required
• Collaborate with development, QA, DevOps, and security teams

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• 5+ years of software development experience
• Strong understanding of Linux kernel internals
• Experience with Linux kernel modules and/or eBPF
• Experience with processes, scheduling, memory management, concurrency, filesystems, networking, or storage subsystems
• Experience debugging kernel and low-level system issues
• Strong understanding of computer architecture and system-level software
• Experience working across multiple Linux distributions and kernel versions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience developing endpoint security, EDR, antivirus, or similar security software
• Experience with eBPF -based monitoring or enforcement
• Experience with ARM64 and x86_64
• Experience with Python for tooling, testing, or automation
• Experience with Linux packaging, kernel build systems, and CI/CD
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as KVM, VMware, Xen, or Hyper-V
• Knowledge of PCIe, DMA, SR-IOV/SIOV , or related low-level system interfaces
• Experience contributing to or maintaining upstream Linux kernel code
