Job summary
ComTec Information Systems (IT) in The Woodlands, TX is seeking an experienced Linux Engineer to support migrating enterprise workloads from VMware to Nutanix AHV. The role requires close collaboration with infrastructure, application, and operations teams to minimize downtime during the transition.
We value hands-on Linux administration, VMware vSphere/ESXi experience, Nutanix Prism, and scripting abilities.
Qualifications
- 5 years of hands-on Linux administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu.
- Experience with system performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Strong experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi and vCenter Administration
- Experience with VM provisioning, clustering, HA, and DR technologies.
- Experience with Nutanix AHV, Nutanix Prism Central, Prism Element and Nutanix Move
- Knowledge of Nutanix storage, networking, and cluster operations.
- Good experience with Automation & Scripting (Bash Shell Scripting, Python, Ansible). Infrastructure automation experience preferred.
- Hands on experience in Networking & Storage - TCP/IP, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, SAN/NAS storage concepts
- Excellent Network troubleshooting skills
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Experience with monitoring tools such as Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, or Grafana.

Title: Linux Engineer
Location: The Woodlands, TX (Remote - Flexible to work onsite 1-2 days onsite in a week)
We are seeking an experienced Linux Engineer to support and execute the migration of enterprise workloads from VMware environments to Nutanix AHV infrastructure. The ideal candidate will possess strong Linux administration expertise, virtualization knowledge, migration experience, and the ability to work closely with infrastructure, application, and operations teams to ensure a smooth transition with minimal downtime.
