Job summary

Pyramid, Inc. is seeking a Linux Engineer for a 06+ months contract in Richmond, VA on a hybrid schedule. The position offers $68–$70/hour and includes benefits such as health insurance, a 401(k) plan, and paid sick leave, depending on location.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of enterprise Linux experience and a Bachelor’s degree in IT, CS, or CE. You will administer Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers, build and maintain Ansible playbooks, and automate tasks with Bash or Python.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of enterprise Linux administration experience.
• Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
• Experience with provisioning, configuration, maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting Linux systems.
• Proficiency in Ansible, Bash, Python, or similar scripting language.
• Solid understanding of Linux networking, DNS, storage, and access controls.
• Experience with incident, problem, change, and service-management processes.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform, VMware, and cloud providers (Azure/AWS/GCP).
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, SolarWinds, Prometheus, Grafana, Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
• Security, cloud, or Kubernetes certifications.

Responsibilities

• Administer, provision, configure, maintain, and upgrade physical and virtual Red Hat Enterprise Linux servers.
• Monitor health, capacity, availability, and performance; troubleshoot storage, filesystems, services, and networking issues.
• Execute monthly patching and urgent out-of-cycle remediation using approved enterprise processes.
• Develop and maintain Ansible playbooks and automate processes using Bash or Python scripting.
• Diagnose and resolve complex Linux incidents and participate in on-call support.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support critical business systems and improve operational efficiency.

Immediate need for a talented Linux Engineer. This is a 06+ Months Contract opportunity with long-term potential and is located in Richmond, VA (Hybrid).

Our client is a leading Utilities Industry and we are currently interviewing to fill this and other similar contract positions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Experience with RedHat Enterprise Linux, Ansible Automation Platform, Terraform, VMware, Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, SolarWinds, Prometheus, Grafana, Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
• Security, cloud, or Kubernetes certifications.
