Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced Linux systems administrator to advance automation, observability, and configuration management. You will lead tooling improvements, drive GitOps, and mentor a small team while ensuring performance of KVM, CloudStack, and Kubernetes environments.

Ideal candidates have RHCE, ITIL, and 5+ years of enterprise Linux experience, with strong scripting, IaC, and networking skills to support scalable operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS / IT / Eng or related field.
• RHCE and ITIL Foundation preferred.
• 5+ years of advanced Linux system administration.
• Strong Bash and Python scripting and automation.
• Experience with Ansible for configuration management.
• Familiarity with CMDB practices and change tracking.
• Solid TCP/IP networking knowledge.
• Working knowledge of Grafana/OpenNMS/Zabbix.
• IaC tools: Terraform/OpenTofu experience.
• KVM virtualization, CloudStack administration, and Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve tooling, workflows, and automation for day-to-day operations.
• Define and drive GitOps adoption across the Operations team.
• Use Ansible for configuration management, including playbooks and inventory.
• Scripting in Bash and Python for deployment, validation, and baselining.
• Administer and tune KVM and CloudStack environments.
• Support Kubernetes environments alongside the Skyline Platform Team.
• Own and improve CMDB end-to-end with discovery, auditing, and reporting.
• Maintain storage architecture knowledge and interaction with systems.
• Improve monitoring and alerting for early issue detection.
• Ensure high-quality telemetry with dashboards, alerts, and configurations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to improve observability and health visibility.
• Support maintenance and reliability of observability systems.
• Define tasks for two engineers on the team.
• Mentor and review work within the Operations team, focused on automation.
• Document operational runbooks, standards, and implementation guidance.
