Job summary

Tekscend Photomask Corp. seeks a systems administrator to support CentOS Linux platforms, storage systems, databases, and virtualization. Responsibilities include installation, maintenance, automated backups, and upgrades to improve reliability and performance with security controls.

The role requires 5+ years across multiple OSs, strong troubleshooting, and scripting for automation. A CS-related degree is preferred, and onsite work is required one week per month.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years' experience with multiple operating systems; CentOS focus.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Software programming for system automation tasks.
• Experience with client-server installations and maintenance upgrades.
• Understanding of systems, I/O, and networks as they pertain to the OS.
• Ability to research technical issues independently.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, install, maintain, and upgrade computer hardware and software.
• Develop and implement custom automation backups.
• Propose and implement system enhancements for reliability and performance, including security controls.
• Provide off-hour support in rotation with the team.

Job description

This position will be part of a small team supporting systems and technologies related to the use of CentOS Linux platforms. Diverse responsibilities include supporting storage systems, databases, and virtualization. Responsible for the analysis, installation, maintenance, custom automation backups, and upgrades of computer hardware and software. Proposes and implements system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system, including security integrity controls. The position requires off-hour support in rotation with other team members.

Knowledge / Experience:

• Minimum of 5 years' experience working with multiple operating systems; primarily CentOS environment.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Software programming for system automation tasks.
• Client-server experience and experience working with system installation and maintenance upgrades.
• Understanding of systems, I/O, and networks as it pertains to the operating system.
• Ability to work independently to research technical issues.
• A College degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.

• Proficient skill level working with Linux, system security, account management and shell scripts, and Perl programming
• Communication (oral/written) and interpersonal skills

• Must be available to be onsite for one week a month
