Job summary

VC5 Consulting seeks a Linux Administrator to manage SuSE Linux and Ubuntu Server environments, focusing on system improvements, optimization, and deployment planning. You will work with developers and other admins to troubleshoot issues and implement security best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of Linux Administration experience is required.
• Proven knowledge of SuSE, Ubuntu, or RedHat Linux for design, operations, and troubleshooting.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper‑V is necessary.
• Experience supporting Windows SAMBA/Active Directory, NFS, and Volume Management is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide recommendations for system improvements and optimization plans to enhance performance and reliability.
• Perform routine maintenance on Linux and Windows systems to ensure maximum uptime and optimal refresh intervals.
• Monitor system performance using command line tools and SolarWinds to prevent slowdowns and crashes.
• Act as a single point of contact for managing service providers and coordinating security planning with management.
• Facilitate Active Directory and SMB interoperability, along with NFS and remote drive maps.
