Job description

The Linn County Conservation Department has 2 temporary (full-time) openings available for the 2024/2025 fall through spring season (Mid-October through Mid-April).

These positions are based at the Linn County Conservation Wanatee Park Shop in Marion, Iowa and will support natural resource related work around the Linn County Conservation system.

WAGE: $15 – 16.00 per hour

POSITIONS INCLUDE: Natural Resource Aide (2)

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: Natural resource management activities such as establishment and maintenance of native forest, prairie, and wetland ecosystems, operation of hand tools and various related equipment. Activities could include tree planting and maintenance, prairie installation, wetland plant establishment, invasive species control, prescribed fire operations, forest and park tree removal or timber stand improvement, and other park or natural area maintenance tasks as needed.

REQUIREMENTS: Must pass a County physical examination which includes a drug test after offer of employment. Random drug tests during employment may be required. Must have a valid driver’s license. Must be at least 18 years old at time of hire.
