Job summary

Montana Construction is seeking a Lining Equipment Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance and repairs on CIPP lining equipment in Lodi, NJ. The role requires hands-on expertise with steam generators, UV trains, boilers, and remote robotic cutters to support sewer and water restoration projects.

You will calibrate instruments, interpret manuals, and work with field crews to ensure safe, efficient installations. A boiler certificate and 2–3 years of related experience are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Valid boiler operation certificate with at least two years of boiler maintenance experience.
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with robotic cutting equipment.
  • Strong safety knowledge in a construction environment.
  • Must read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational/technical training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on CIPP lining equipment including steam generators, UV light trains, boiler systems, specialty trailers, and remote robotic cutters.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues across all lining equipment and associated systems.
  • Maintain and manage steam boiler systems in compliance with safety codes, state regulations, and manufacturer requirements.
  • Calibrate and test pressure gauges, temperature sensors, and related instrumentation to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Set up, service, and repair remote robotic cutting equipment for lateral reinstatement after CIPP installation.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics to guide diagnosis and repair procedures.
  • Maintain records of maintenance activities, calibration results, and equipment condition.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and confined space procedures.
  • Collaborate with field crews to ensure equipment readiness for each project.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Foreman or Superintendent.

Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) – Sewer & Water Restoration

Job Summary

The Lining Equipment Mechanic is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) lining equipment including steam generators, UV light trains, boiler systems, and remote robotic cutters. This full-time, on-site role is based in Lodi, NJ and requires hands-on technical expertise to ensure all equipment runs safely and efficiently on sewer and water restoration projects. The Mechanic also calibrates and tests machinery such as pressure gauges and temperature sensors to ensure lining installations meet engineering and safety standards, and works closely with field crews throughout project execution.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on CIPP lining equipment including steam generators, UV light trains, boiler systems, specialty trailers, and remote robotic cutters.

Required Qualifications
  • Valid boiler operation certificate with a minimum of two years of relevant boiler maintenance experience.
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems, including heavy equipment maintenance and specialty trailers.
  • Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency with robotic cutting equipment.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and protocols in a construction environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational or technical training preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Relevant certifications or training in equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Experience with CIPP lining equipment in a sewer or water rehabilitation environment.
  • Experience in heavy construction or utility work.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Full-time, on-site role at Montana Construction’s Lodi, NJ facility with field deployment to job sites across NJ, NY, and PA.
  • Work is performed in shop and outdoor field environments including confined spaces and varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to steam, heat, sewer environments, hydraulic fluids, and heavy equipment is expected.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds regularly; stand, bend, kneel, and work in confined spaces for extended periods.
