Job summary

NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) Newport, RI is seeking a full-time laundry attendant for the NHG portfolio. You will sort, wash, dry, and press linens, maintain inventory, and support housekeeping as needed. No experience required; a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

The role emphasizes efficient operation of commercial laundry equipment, safety, and ensuring guest privacy and timely service.

Qualifications

• No experience required; High School graduate or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sorts washes dries folds bundles wraps and issues linen in accordance with established instructions and/or as directed by the Lead Supervisor.
• Operates commercial washers, dryers and ironing press paying attention to detail while working with laundry to prevent staining, overdyeing, or over-starching.
• May load/unload and handle laundry chemicals as needed by hand or using carts and hand trucks.
• Reads and follows written directions from manufacturer or supervisor on the proper use of all equipment and chemicals; cleans filters and notifies supervisor of malfunctions.
• Inventories laundry to detect missing or damaged items; maintains records and requests replacements to sustain par standards.
• May pick up and deliver laundry to multiple facilities; sweeps, mops, dusts and empties trash to maintain cleanliness.
• Maintains documentation of daily and monthly work.
• May be required to possess a valid state driver’s license to travel to other lodging facilities.
• Performs duties of housekeeping attendants/public spaces attendants as needed to cover shortages.
• Ensures security and privacy of all guests at all times.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
