Job summary

TSX Fiber Services LLC in Wayne, NJ seeks a Lineman Technician II (Aerial Construction) to install, maintain, relocate aerial fiber-optic systems and related telecom infrastructure. You will perform cable placement through conduits, pole-riser installs, and work with crews to meet safety and project specs.

Requires 3+ years in aerial fiber construction, valid driver’s license, and ability to read construction prints. Willingness to travel and work extended hours; on-call rotation may apply.

  • Knowledge of NESC, OSHA, and local utility attachment requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, transfer, and remove aerial fiber optic cable on utility poles and related structures
  • Perform strand placement, lashing, over-lashing, cable transfers, and pole-to-pole construction
  • Install and secure aerial fiber hardware, including strand, anchors, clamps, and related attachments
  • Ensure proper cable sag, clearance, and alignment in compliance with NESC and project specifications
  • Read and interpret construction prints, maps, and aerial plant documentation
  • Identify construction-related issues such as clearance violations, damaged cable, or improper attachments
  • Safely operate bucket trucks, lashers, tensioners, and other aerial construction tools and equipment
  • Coordinate work with crew members, supervisors, traffic control, and other utilities as required
  • Perform routine inspections of aerial plants and report deficiencies or safety concerns
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, redlines, and material usage documentation
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, NESC standards, and company safety policies

Job Summary:

Lineman Technician II(Aerial Construction) is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and relocation of aerial fiber-optic cable systems and related telecommunications infrastructure. The role primarily focuses on aerial construction while also performing associated construction tasks, including cable placement through conduit systems, pole-riser installation, cable pulling and routing, building and cell-site placement, and the drilling and sealing of approved cable-entry points. The Lineman Technician II is expected to work independently or as part of a crew to complete assigned construction activities safely, efficiently, and in accordance with construction standards, safety regulations, approved prints, and project requirements.

Education and Experience:
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in aerial fiber optic construction
  • Demonstrated experience with strand and lash aerial construction methods
  • Strong knowledge of aerial fiber construction practices, materials, and hardware
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and aerial network documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safe, high-quality workmanship
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience operating bucket trucks and aerial lifts
  • Familiarity with NESC, OSHA, and local utility attachment requirements
  • First Aid/CPR or OSHA safety certifications
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds or more.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, climb, bend, and work overhead for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in outdoor environments.
Availability & Schedule Requirements:
  • Participation in an on-call rotation.
  • Willing to work extended hours, travel, on-call assignments, and emergency work when required.
  • Occasional night, weekend, and emergency work based on project demands.
