Job summary

Network Connex seeks a talented Lineman in Hayden, Idaho to maintain and build overhead and underground fiber and copper infrastructure. You will perform line work safely and coordinate with crew to meet project standards.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting distribution circuits, installing aerial cable, climbing utility poles, and working in varied weather. Travel up to 40% is required; a CDL (Class A) is required or obtainable within 90 days.

Qualifications

  • 1+ year of lineman experience in telecommunications required.
  • 2+ years of telecom aerial construction experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; CDL preferred with ability to obtain within 90 days.

Position Summary

The Lineman safely performs all associated tasks associated with maintaining and building overhead and underground infrastructure with fiber optic and copper cable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair all distribution and transmission circuits and equipment and prepare all associated paperwork.
  • Responsible for ensuring all assigned projects meet company design standards and work methods.
  • Performs aerial cable installation procedures, including pole placement and anchors, pole removal, transfers, and proper framing techniques.
  • Ability to climb utility poles at various heights.
  • Projects may require extended work hours or working in inclement weather.
  • May work alone or as part of a crew supervising a lower classification such as a laborer, apprentice, or helper.
  • Heavy lifting will be required; must have the ability to lift and manipulate lasher and other cable placement equipment.
  • Ensures safe jobsite setup to include using signage, cones, safety barriers; flagging traffic when required.
  • Occasionally requires laborer duties, especially during learning and training phases of the position.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Success Factors / Job Competencies
  • Experience in the following tasks: new cable installs, Pole Transfers, Strand Building, Cable Hanging, Lashing Over, Wreck Outs, and Make Readies.
  • Ability to climb wooded utility poles and perform line work off hooks.
  • Proficient in bucket truck operation.
  • Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climate conditions.
  • Proven ability to analyze job locations for utility lines, permitting, and traffic control in order to complete construction activities without quality defects, safety incidents, or any type of property damage.
  • Proficient in completing daily inspections and reporting of maintenance issues on vehicles, trailers, and equipment.
  • Must maintain a professional working attitude with internal team members and external customers, clients, and vendors
Qualifications Required
  • High School Diploma or its equivalent
  • Valid Driver Licenses, Class A CDL preferred with the ability to obtain in the first 90 days of employment.
  • 1+ years of lineman experience in the telecommunication industry required.
  • 2+ years of telecommunication aerial construction experience preferred.
Work Environment
  • This position operates in a field environment and assumes responsibility for work outcomes and results of other workers.
  • Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including climbing, sitting, standing, walking, and driving.
  • Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid, and/or rainy spring, summer, winter and fall weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions.
  • May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on sites of projects being managed or coordinated.
  • When working onsite, will be required to wear common protective safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hats, and safety boots.
